The 128th has been an active part of Williamwood Parish Church from the day when the Company was formed on the 4th of November 1937, under the Captaincy of Mr William Cherry.
Plans had been made at District level for the formation of a Boys’ Brigade Company in Williamwood Church even before the building work had begun. With the approval from the Rev. Daniel Patterson, M.A. (the first minister of Williamwood) a loan of £5 was granted from Battalion Headquarters for the purchase of uniforms. On Sunday 1st of December 1937, three officers and twenty-two boys paraded to the Church in full uniform.
Today, we are proud to follow in the footsteps of our predecessors. Although many things have changed over the years within the Boys’ Brigade movement and the 128th Glasgow Company, we still actively pursue the object; “The Advancement of Christ’s Kingdom among Boys and the Promotion of habits of Obedience, Reverence, Discipline, Self Respect and all that tends towards a true Christian Manliness.”
